Occupational Therapy
Child & Adolescent Occupational Therapy servicing the Sunshine Coast & North Brisbane.
Empowering children and families through evidence-based, relationship-driven therapy, in whatever environment they need it most.
What is Child and Adolescent Occupational Therapy?
At H2OT, Occupational Therapy is playful, practical, and personal.
Occupational Therapy focuses on a child’s occupations, the meaningful, everyday activities that help them grow, connect, and thrive. For children, play is one of the most important occupations of all. That’s why you’ll always find us laughing, moving, creating, and connecting through play whether that is in the pool, at your home, or in the community.
Every child is different, which means no two sessions look the same. Whether it’s supporting sensory needs, developing fine motor skills, building independence, or managing routines, we work alongside families to create change that feels achievable (and fun).
Not quite sure if OT is what your child needs? You’re not alone. Let’s chat! We’ll help you make sense of it all.
-
Step 1:
Assessment
We start by connecting with you and your child to understand their unique strengths, challenges, and what matters most to your family.
-
Step 2:
Making a Plan
Together, we create a clear, personalised roadmap – breaking big goals into meaningful, achievable steps with input from your whole support team.
-
Step 3:
Therapy
Therapy with H2OT is flexible, fun, and tailored to your child – whether it’s at home, in the community, or in the water.
-
Step 4
Review and Reflection
Each term, we reflect on progress, celebrate growth, and fine-tune the plan to keep your child’s goals front and centre.
Through playful, client-centred support we help children grow in confidence, connect with others and participate in the things they want and need to do
FAQ’s
-
H2OT Allied Health supports children and adolescents from 0-18 to engage and participate in the things they want and need to do. If you would like to know more please get in touch.
-
Our role as OT’s is to enable your child to engage and participate in what they want and need to do across their everyday lives. This could include everyday tasks such as dressing, toileting, sleep or brushing their hair. It could be that they need some additional support when engaging in play with their peers or communicating their wants and needs when they become dysregulated. No two children are the same. If you want more information on how our team can support your child please get in touch.
-
No referral is required to access services at H2OT Allied Health. Families can contact us directly to get started. However, if you are using NDIS funding or other third-party funding, we may ask for relevant documentation to help us understand your child’s goals and support needs.
-
We often have availability however this does not always suit families with school aged children or parents who work full time; which we completely understand - life is busy! Please get in touch to discuss what time/day will work best for your child and family, from there we can discuss what is available and what environment will be best for your child.
-
Yes! We love supporting children in their natural everyday environments. Unfortunately some schools, daycare centres or kindergartens have policies and procedures where allied health are not able to support your child in these environments so please discuss this with them to discover if this will be the best option moving forward. If you have any questions surrounding this or would like our team to contact your child’s learning environment please get in touch.

At H2OT Allied Health, our sessions are not a one-size-fits-all approach. Each child is unique, and the length of sessions depends on several factors including your child’s age, developmental needs, current strengths, and the environment in which therapy is delivered.
On average, face-to-face sessions run for 30 to 60 minutes. In addition to this, we allocate approximately 15 minutes of non face-to-face time per session. This allows your therapist to complete clinical documentation, communicate with other professionals or caregivers (where appropriate), and reflect or plan tailored therapy approaches. This behind-the-scenes work is a crucial part of ensuring your child receives thoughtful, individualised care.
-
We pride ourselves on working holistically and collaboratively within a team environment to support the success of each child and that team also includes you, the parent. One of the most rewarding aspects of our role is partnering with families to build knowledge, confidence, and consistency across all settings. We regularly liaise with educators, therapists, and other health professionals to ensure everyone is working towards shared goals and your child receives the most effective support possible.
-
At H2OT Allied Health, all members of our team are qualified Occupational Therapists who engage in regular professional development and are confident in supporting children and adolescents.
While we aim for consistency and the opportunity to build rapport from the very first appointment, there may be occasions where the therapist conducting your child’s Initial Assessment is not their ongoing treating therapist. As a small and connected team, we do our best to ensure continuity wherever possible and will always communicate openly with you about your child’s care.
