The H2OT Process
Step 1
Assessment
Your first session is all about connection. We take the time to get to know you and your child, listen to what matters most to your family, and begin to build a shared understanding of your child’s unique strengths and challenges. Through observation, assessment, and informal conversation, our therapists aim to meet your child with curiosity, compassion, and care, wherever they’re at in their journey.
Step 2
Making a Plan
Together, we’ll map out where we’re headed. Whether your goals are guided by a NDIS plan or your family’s unique priorities, we’ll break them down into meaningful, achievable steps. We collaborate with you and the important people in your child’s life, such as teachers, other therapists, and paediatricians, to make sure our approach is consistent, connected, and focused on what really matters to your child. No dream is too big; our role is to help build the stepping stones in order for your child to achieve success.
We would love to hear from you!
Step 3
Therapy
Sessions with H2OT are collaborative, flexible, and grounded in what works best for your child. Sessions might take place in your home, local community, or in the water. Depending on your child’s goals, sessions typically run for 30–60 minutes, and we work with you to decide on the right frequency. Therapy may include direct work with your child, parent coaching, practical strategies for everyday routines, and/or personalised home programs to support progress between sessions. No two therapy journeys look the same and that’s exactly how it should be.
Step 4
Review & Reflection
At the end of each term, we pause to reflect, together. Our team reviews your child’s progress, celebrates the wins (big and small), and considers what’s been most helpful. This is a space to listen deeply to you and your child, take on feedback, and adjust the plan as needed. We’ll check in on therapy goals, explore any changes in your child’s world, and make sure our supports stay relevant, purposeful, and aligned with your family’s journey.
This reflection doesn’t only happen at the end of each term. We’re constantly reviewing and refining how we can be the best therapists for your child and family. If we feel a parent consult would be beneficial, we’ll reach out and we warmly encourage you to do the same. Whether it’s to share observations, discuss strengths, or raise new concerns, your insight is valued every step of the way.
